Voyage to Her: Interceding Sisters I Samuel Reflection

This morning, as we concluded our final review of the book of 1 Samuel during Interceding Sisters, one word continued to rise to the surface again and again: obedience.

Obedience was the thread woven through every moment in the book—through victory and failure, through anointing and consequence. From the quiet faithfulness of Hannah’s prayer to the rise and fall of Saul’s leadership, obedience revealed itself as the defining posture of a heart that truly walks with God.

So that became our prayer focus.

As we pressed deeper into prayer together, something profound began to unfold in my spirit. The Lord impressed this on my heart:

obedience to intercede.

obedience to pray without ceasing.

obedience to answer the call of prayer.

Intercession is not simply a spiritual discipline—it is a calling that requires response. Prayer is not only about what we say, but about whether we are willing to obey the prompting to pray in the first place.

Often we ask God for power.

We ask Him for breakthrough.

We ask Him to move.

But this morning’s reminder was simple and clear: obedience comes first.

Obedience to show up.

Obedience to open our mouths.

Obedience to stand in the gap for someone else.

God gives both the when and the wind—the timing and the power behind our prayers. But before the wind of God moves, there must be a heart willing to respond.

The wind will come.

But it follows obedience.

And as women committed to intercession, may we always be found ready—ready to pray, ready to respond, and ready to stand in the gap.

Because sometimes the greatest move of God begins with something very small:

a whisper to pray… and a heart that obeys. 🤍
